Common Questions About the MRCGP to Australia Handbook
Do I need to sit the AMC exam if I have UK MRCGP and CCT?+
No. If you hold an MRCGP with a GMC-approved Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), you qualify for the AHPRA Expedited Specialist Pathway, which has been available since October 2024 and removes the need for AMC exams or college assessment.
Will I be placed somewhere remote with no amenities?+
Not necessarily. Many DPA-approved areas are outer-suburban zones within 30–60 minutes of Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, with good schools and infrastructure close by. The handbook includes a full table of DPA areas near major cities.
How much can I realistically earn as a GP in Australia?+
