The Problem

You Didn't Become a GP to Spend Your Days Fighting the System

NHS rotas that leave you exhausted before you reach your patients. Admin that takes longer than consultations. A pension that barely reflects what you’ve put in. Colleagues leaving and roles not being refilled. The sense that after everything you’ve invested in your career, something more is possible, but you don’t know where to start.

You’ve probably searched “UK GP Australia” before. The process looked complicated, the agencies all sounded the same, and you put it off.

Here’s what most GPs don’t know: if you have your MRCGP and CCT, the path to Australia is more straightforward than you think

MRCGP + CCT holders

Typical timeline: 6-12 months
from first enquiry to first day at work

Roles in DPA locations, within 45
minutes of Australia's major cities

Average Australian GP earning
2–3x NHS equivalent

(Week 1)

We review your qualifications, confirm eligibility, and outline your specific pathway. You leave with a written summary and a clear next step.

Step 2 Document Preparation

We provide a full AHPRA document checklist. You gather your CCT, GMC Certificate of Good Standing, and supporting credentials. We review everything before submission.

We support your AHPRA Expedited Specialist Pathway application. Average AHPRA processing time: 8–16 weeks from submission.

Work in DPA Locations, Enjoy City-Linked Living

Work where you’re needed most, while staying connected to city life and convenience.

Distribution Priority Areas (DPAs) are locations where GP workforce demand is highest. In practice, most DPA practices are in outer suburbs, regional towns, and coastal communities within a commutable distance from Australia’s major cities. Ray Rekruiters helps with placing GPs in DPA practices that are close to the cities and lifestyles they came for, not remote postings hundreds of kilometers from the nearest airport.

Common Questions from MRCGP GPs Considering Australia

Do I need to sit the AMC exam if I have UK MRCGP and CCT?

No. If you hold an MRCGP with Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) awarded under a GMC-approved specialist training program in the UK, you qualify for AHPRA’s Expedited Specialist Pathway. This pathway grants direct specialist registration in Australia without requiring AMC exams or Australian college fellowship. This pathway has been available since October 2024.

Yes. The Skills in Demand (SID) visa (Subclass 482) includes dependent visa rights for your partner and dependent children. Most GPs relocate with their families. Your dedicated consultant will refer you to a registered migration agent who can provide specific advice on dependent visa applications for your family’s circumstances.

Ray Rekruiters works with you until you are placed. There is no defined end date to our support. If a role falls through, if your timeline extends, or if circumstances change during the process, your consultant continues to support your placement. We do not close candidate files or withdraw support if the first placement attempt is unsuccessful.

Getting started is easy. Simply book a free assessment call with our team or get in touch directly at +61 414 584 777 or write to us at hello@rayrekruiters.com.au.

During your assessment, we’ll review your eligibility, explain the AHPRA Expedited Specialist Pathway, and answer any questions you may have about registration, visas, job opportunities, and relocation. From your first enquiry through to your move to Australia, our team is here to guide you every step of the way.
